Privacy
The short version: no accounts, no ads, no advertising ID. Your location and saved places never leave your device. The website collects nothing. The app sends anonymous crash reports, and usage statistics only if you allow them.
What the website collects
Nothing that identifies you. The site has no sign-up, no forms that send data to us, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. All fonts, scripts and map tiles are served from this website.
If you email us, we receive your address and message in our email inbox and use them only to reply and to fix what you report.
What the app collects
Usage statistics, only if you allow them. On first launch the app asks whether to share usage statistics; nothing is sent unless you say yes, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings > Privacy. When it is on, the app sends which features you use (for example opening search, viewing an answer, saving or sharing a place), the village an answer is in, your app and plan-data version, device model and operating system. A random ID created on install links these events together. We never send your name, phone number, email, contacts, advertising ID, the text you type into search, or your GPS coordinates. These statistics are processed by PostHog on servers in the European Union. PostHog derives an approximate city from your network address; we have set it to discard the address itself.
Crash reports. If the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a technical report (the error, app version, device model and operating system) to Sentry, on servers in the European Union. Reports contain no name, contact details or location.
Plan data and settings. The app downloads its settings and plan data updates from this website. Like any web request, this passes through our host (see Hosting).
We use this information only to keep the app working and to improve it. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or use it to track you across other apps or websites.
Your location
When you tap the locate button, your browser or phone asks for permission. If you allow it, your position is used only on your device to place a dot on the map and work out which plot you are on. It is not sent to us or stored by us, and the app never uses location in the background.
What stays on your device
These are saved on your device only, in your browser's local storage on the website or in the app's storage:
- In the app, saved places: names, notes, categories and positions you save
- Your own position corrections ("Not quite right?")
- Your settings, such as light or dark mode
We cannot see this data. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings, or by uninstalling the app. When you share a place, you choose who receives it.
Hosting
The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect against abuse, under its own privacy policy. We have not enabled any analytics on it.
Your choices and requests
Turning off usage statistics in the app's Settings stops collection straight away. To ask us to delete statistics already collected, email us with the approximate dates you used the app; because we hold no name or contact details, we may not be able to match every request.
Links to other sites
Some buttons open other websites, for example Google Maps or the Nashik Municipal Corporation site. Those sites have their own privacy policies; nothing is sent to them unless you click.
Children
Nashik DP is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
